The Topic for Today 26th June 2023 Is: Inner Works
Focal Scripture: Psalm 23: 3
“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist spoke of how God restores his soul. The psalmist had previously spoken about how the Shepherd takes him to green pastures and still waters. He had previously spoken of things that the Shepherd does which eyes can see. He spoke of what the Shepherd did for him. Notice that in our Focal Scripture, the psalmist began speaking of what the Shepherd did in him. The Shepherd worked for him, and worked in him.

Friend, the equation for a successful life is to have God working for you and also working in you. The template for success is to have God do for you what eyes can see, and also do for you what eyes cannot see. As God opens new doors for you, also make sure that He is working on your character. As God causes you to succeed beyond your imaginations, it’s important that your soul is in tune with Him. As God fights your battles, it is important that He is also removing your bad behavior.
What has God made you to start doing? What has He made you to stop doing? For every physical milestone, what is the accompanying spiritual progress? How has your prayer life improved since God started to show you mercy? How has your manifestation of the fruit of the Spirit increased alongside the mighty favours and increase that God granted you? How has your life moved forward towards God, apart from moving towards your goals?
A very simple template for failure, is to have God working for you without doing anything in you. If all you have from God is what He gave to you or the help He sent to you, without any change He brought in you, then you are gearing up for failure in destiny. If your miracles have not brought you to the place of intimacy with God, you are missing the mark. If what God has done for you is not accompanied by what He is doing in you, you are wrong.
What God has done for you is important, but what He is doing inside of you is much more important. Don’t be counted amongst those whom God worked for them but never worked in them and on them.
Galatians 5: 1 says: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
