HISTORY OF KICC (KINGSWAY INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN CENTRE).
Who is the founder of
Founded in September 1992 by Reverend Matthew Ashimolowo and 300 members, the Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) began its journey with humble beginnings in North London. In just three years, the membership skyrocketed to 3,000, leading to the expansion of Sunday services and the utilization of technology to reach a potential audience of 40 million viewers worldwide.
KICC was located for nine years on a 9.5-acre (38,000 m2) site in Hackney, London, which is close to the site of the 2012 Olympics Village.
KICC had to vacate the site by November 2006 following the necessity to make developments for the 2012 London Olympics.
The church then relocated to Hoe Street, Walthamstow, awaiting planning consent and the development of a large new site in Rainham. However, the government was reluctant to give the required development planning consent. Eventually the church purchased and moved into its present larger site, Prayer City in Buckmore Park, Chatham, Kent ME5 9QG, while retaining use of the Walthamstow site.
KICC has been dedicated to providing practical support and guidance to its members through various counseling services, while also fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all visitors. Over the years, KICC has acquired new properties, including the Miracle Centre and Prayer City, facilitating growth and providing state-of-the-art facilities for worship and ministry. Today, KICC continues to thrive, with multiple services and programs catering to different age groups. Join us at KICC as we embark on a journey of faith and discovery at our vibrant and inspiring worship centers.
