History of First Baptist Church Texarkana
Who is the founder of The First Baptist Church Texarkana?
First Baptist Church Texarkana was founded on 4th August 1877 and has been serving the community for over 144 years. Fifteen Mount Pisgah Baptist church members formed the First Baptist church Texakarna. (ref). First Baptist churches are called so, when they are the first of such Baptist churches to be established within a region or community.
In February 2003, Jeff Schreve became the Pastor of First Baptist Church Texarkana, after previously serving at Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston, TX.
In October 2023, FBC Texakaena holds the “Holy Land 2023” – a trip to Israel. It is a trip of a lifetime as Pastor Jeff Schreve preaches and teaches God’s Word throughout the land of the Bible!

- Jeff Schreve – Senior Leadership
Jeff earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 1984 and worked as a salesman for 12 years before he was called by God to preach.
He obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in December 2000 and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in December 2014.
Jeff is a Radio Host of Real Truth for Today at American Family Radio, Founder of From His Heart Ministries, and pastor at First Baptist Church – Texarkana, TX.

Debbie joined the FBC staff in the summer of 2017. Debbie is a graduate of Texas A & M University with a degree in Secondary Education. She moved to Texarkana along with her Sr. Pastor husband, Jeff, in February 2003.
- Chris Schroeder – Teaching Pastor
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology and a Masters of Ministry degree from Point Loma Nazarene University, Pastor Chris serves as a teacing Pastor at FBC Texakarna since January 2018. He also holds a Masters of Pastoral Counseling and Doctorate of Ministry in Patoral Counseling from Liberty University. Chris is happily married to Rochelle and together they have three daughters.
- Quinn Stanfill – Worship Pastor
Pastor Quinn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Music and a Master’s Degree in Christian Education from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He joined the FBC team as the Worship Pastor in February 2012.
