RCCG Sunday School Teacher’s Manual 31st July 2022 (Lesson 48) – The Marriage Supper Of The Lamb
TOPIC: The Marriage Supper Of The Lamb
OPENING PRAYER: Father, please help me not to miss the marriage supper of the Lamb. Give me new strength to prepare daily for it in the name of Jesus.
Teacher should allow students to review the previous week’s lesson.
MEMORY VERSE: Revelation 19:9 (KJV)
“And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.”
BIBLE PASSAGE: Revelation 19:1-9 (King James Version)
1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
3 And again they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
LESSON INTRODUCTION: Marriage, in this context, symbolises the union between Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:22-32). It is, however, important to note that the Marriage Supper of the Lamb is the next event after the first phase of the second coming of Christ (the rapture).
“Saying Alleluia; salvation and glory, and honour and power unto the Lord our God”. (Rev.19:1). The word “Alleluia” appeared in three other phases and sentences in the passage. For instance:
i. “And again he said, “Alleluia”. (Rev.19:3).
ii. “….saying, Amen; Alleluia”. (Rev.19:4).
iii. “….saying Alleluia, for the Lord God Omnipotent reigneth”. (Rev.19:6).
ACTIVITY: Apostle John gave some reasons why God was praised with great voice of “Alleluia”. Teacher should identify five (5) reasons.
- DESCRIPTION OF THE MARRIAGE
- IMPORTANCE AND QUALIFICATION
1. DESCRIPTION OF THE MARRIAGE
Teacher should give vivid description of the marriage of the Lamb as follows:
i. The Meaning: The marriage supper of the Lamb is the consummation of the union between Christ (The Bridegroom) and the church (The Bride without-spot or wrinkles). (Ephesians 5:27, Revelation 19:1-9, Matthew 22:1-14).
ii. Time of the event: The marriage will take place after the rapture of the saints but before the second phase of the second coming of the Lord with His saints. (Judg. 1:14-15) i.e. between the first phase and the second phase of the Lord’s second coming. (1Thess. 4:16-17 and Judg. 1:14-15).
iii. The Personalities in the marriage:
a. The bride and the bridegroom: The bride/wife is the redeemed or saints of all ages who had part in the New Jerusalem. (Rev.21:2).
b. The Husband/Bridegroom. The Lord Jesus Himself. (Rev.19:7).
iv. Venue of the Marriage: It is believed that the marriage will take place in heaven. i.e. heavenly realms. (Rev.19:9, 1Thess. 4:16-17).
CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Mention five (5) people who would not partake in the marriage supper of the Lamb.
2. IMPORTANCE AND QUALIFICATION
Teacher should explain the significance/importance of the marriage as follow:
i. To assemble the saints of all ages and present them to God the Father. (Matt.25:32-35).
ii. To wipe away tears from the faces of all the saints. (Rev.7:17).
iii. To remove all the saints from the earth before the advent of the great tribulation. (Isa.57:1, Matt.24:21).
iv. To reward the faithful. (Rev.22:12).
Teacher should explain the qualifications for the marriage supper as stated below:
i. Faithful saints of God. (Rev.21:27).
ii. Garment of righteousness and holiness. (Rev.19:8, Heb.6:12-14).
CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Why should believers ensure that they do not miss this marriage?
SUMMARY: The marriage of the lamb will surely come and the saints of all ages will partake in the event. To be qualified, you must be holy and faithful.
CONCLUSION: The Marriage Supper of the Lamb, like all biblical prophecies, will be fulfilled. You cannot afford to miss it. Pray to God to keep you standing in Him and count you worthy of this great and unique event.
EVALUATION: What is the marriage supper of the Lamb?
CLOSING PRAYER: Father, count me worthy to partake of the marriage of the Lamb.
ASSIGNMENT: Contrast between Human marriage and marriage supper of the Lamb in five (5) points.
