Bola Are’s Early Life and Background

Bola Are, born on October 1, 1954, is a renowned Nigerian gospel vocalist who also served as the former President of the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria. Bola Are’s roots trace back to Elder Babayomi and Mrs. T. A. Babayomi, both of whom originated from Erio in Ekiti State, Nigeria. Her upbringing was profoundly influenced by four prominent prophets within the Christ Apostolic Church: Apostle Ayodele Babalola, Prophet Babajide, Prophet Akande, and Prophet T.O. Obadare. Spending a significant part of her formative years on the mountain, she derived her musical inspiration from the divine influence of the Holy Spirit.

Bola Are, commenced her primary education at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Primary School in her hometown. She continued her educational journey at the Christ Apostolic Church Grammar School in Efon Alaye, Ekiti State, for her secondary education. Subsequently, she pursued higher education at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where she earned a diploma certificate in accounting.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the world of music, Bola Are was honored with an honorary doctorate degree in Music from St. John’s University in July 1985.
